Watch Marion Cotillard and Michael Fassbender in the First Trailer for ‘Macbeth’ by Justin Kurzel

1433514906_macbeth-zoomFew recent cinematic adaptations of William Shakespeare‘s writing have been as hotly anticipated as this new take on Macbeth. Most of that has to do with the big time talent involved, but the very strong reviews out of the Cannes Film Festival last month certainly haven’t hurt either. Well, with Academy Awards buzz and Harvey Weinstein/The Weinstein Company backing it, expectations are sky high. We won’t be seeing this one until later in the fall/winter (give or take certain festival locations, potentially), but a Trailer has dropped to continue to make us want to see this in the worst way. Obviously, Michael Fassbender is the title character Macbeth, with Marion Cotillard as his wife, Lady Macbeth. Paddy Considine and David Thewlis are also in the cast, with up and coming filmmaker Justin Kurzel directing. The adaptation was whittled down from the original text by the trio of Jacob Koskoff, Michael Lesslie, and actor/filmmaker Todd Louiso. Take a look below at the Trailer and sit tight for more on Macbeth. We don’t have a US release date yet, but one suspects that it’s only a matter of time in that regard. Especially with Oscar potential, I’m sure it’ll be out before the end of 2015, during prime awards season.

Here’s the Trailer:
