First Trailer hits for Jean-Marc Vallée’s ‘Demolition’, starring Jake Gyllenhaal

demolition-movie-jake-gyllenhaal-slice-600x200It was a bit of a surprise when we found out that Demolition, once presumed to be a decently big Oscar player this year, was being moved to 2016. Did it mean the quality wasn’t there? Is it a scheduling thing? Could it be a specific strategy to do better with the Academy next year? Considering how it’s also playing this month at the Toronto Film Festival, there were plenty of questions. Well, a First Trailer for the film has just hit, and the quality issues look to be unfounded. In fact, star Jake Gyllenhaal looks outstanding in what seems to be a lighter role than initially expected. The movie appears to be a dramedy, actually, so go figure there. Jean-Marc Vallée is pretty effective at appealing to voters, so I wonder if this will ultimately be a bit of a crowd pleaser and still be up for Academy awards next time around, potentially in Best Actor for Gyllenhaal? In addition to Gyllenhaal, the cast includes Chris Cooper, newcomer Judah Lewis, and Naomi Watts, while Vallée directs the script from Bryan Sipe. Audiences at TIFF will see this one in the coming days, while Fox Searchlight will wait until the spring of 2016 to unveil it for real. Take a look at the Trailer below and stay tuned for more on Demolition between now and its release date of April 8th, 2016…
