14. “Thriller” – 13 Going on 30 (2004)

“Matty! Thriller!” Never have I seen such an ebullient exclamation of joy for the King of Pop. Not only does Jennifer Garner nail the line but she sells the performance of Jenna Rink, a 13-year-old trapped in a grown woman’s body. Her attempt to get people interested in the party her magazine’s throwing leads her to revert to her teenage self, enlisting the help of her best friend (Mark Ruffalo) to drop everything and do the dance everyone secretly knows but doesn’t admit to. There’s nothing wrong with a big mob of people doing a dance so ingrained in people’s collective consciousness and this made us all remember – as if we ever forgot – how absolutely perfect “Thriller” is.
