11. “Do You Love Me” – Dirty Dancing (1987)

Baby’s (Jennifer Grey) life changes with a door. The way the door opening blends with the music is on par with Dorothy entering Oz; it’s a world based in the familiar but completely unfamiliar. The various dancers live up to the “dirty” of the title – while still being remarkably chaste for 1987 – with bodies pressed together, languid and limber. When Patrick Swayze and Cynthia Rhodes arrive the madness truly takes hold. These two are the life of the party. Perfectly in sync with each other – enough for Baby to ask if they’re a couple – these two are one person and the entire dance floor opens up for them.
