6. “Time After Time” – Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion (1997)

If you can’t tell, I love when the underdogs get their chance to shine via dance. This sequence from Romy and Michele is what I want to do at my high school reunion. Our two friends (Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow) have gone to hell and back to look impressive in front of their snooty high school peers. But when they finally decide to say “screw it,” it comes through in a lyrical interpretive dance, complete with blossoming and Alan Cumming lying on the ground of a ballroom, which cements their individuality. They no longer care about being liked. To Romy and Michele their life has always been a blast because they’re together – and they really love dancing in the center of a room!
