‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Gets New ‘Ghostbusters’ Cover Song

The release of the embattled “Ghostbusters” reboot is less than a month away, and little by little the film’s soundtrack has trickled out. Today sees the release of an update to Ray Parker Jr.’s classic “Ghostbusters” song from the original. The updated track is called “Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid)” and is by Fall Out Boy and features Missy Elliott.

The song’s release comes after the odd backlash the film has seen since the release of its first trailer. A report by The Guardian on the reaction to the two-and-a-half minute clip claims the trailer “has now racked up more than half a million “thumbs down” votes on YouTube. This is not only more than any other trailer: it means the two-and-a-half minute ad earns a place on the streaming channel’s list of the 100 least-liked pieces of content.”

A second trailer for the film did not fare much better, with almost five times more “thumbs down” votes than “thumbs up” ones.

The official logline for the film boasts that it takes place “thirty years after the original film took the world by storm” and that “‘Ghostbusters’ is back and fully rebooted for a new generation.”

Director Paul Feig (“Spy”) reunites with his “Bridesmaid” actresses Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy (McCarthy also starred in Feig’s “Spy”), as well as Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Chris Hemsworth (“Avengers: Age of Ultron”), Andy Garcia (“The Godfather: Part III”), Michael K. Williams (“Boardwalk Empire”), Matt Walsh (“Veep”), Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live) and Neil Casey (Saturday Night Live).

Fans of the original will be able to see Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts return for cameos in the film.

The film will be released on July 15, 2016. Check out the new song below!
