Tom Hanks’ Robert Langdon is once again in for a hell of a time in the latest action-packed trailer for “Inferno,” which was released earlier this morning. The renowned Harvard symbologist made famous from Dan Brown’s “Da Vinci Code” novels returns to the big screen, this time to save the world from a deadly virus intended to cut down on the global population.
“Professor Langdon, we need your help,” Omar Sy’s Christoph Bruder admonishes in the clip. “Three days ago, a man killed himself. We think it was part of something much bigger. There was a package in his pocket,” he explains. Someone has created a plague, it turns out, and only Robert Langdon can decipher the clues and hunt down the madman behind it.
The new look shows much more of the action in the film, as well as the seemingly breakneck pace also featured in the novel.
Ron Howard, who previously directed the first two films (“The Da Vinci Code,” “Angels and Demons”), returns as director. David Koepp (“Mission: Impossible,” “Jurassic Park” and the upcoming “Indiana Jones 5”) adapted the screenplay. Felicity Jones, Ben Foster, Irrfan Khan and Omar Sy round out the cast.
The new trailer can be viewed below. The film opens in theaters Oct. 28.
