In case there was any doubt, Brie Larson is proving that she’s taking her new role as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel very seriously.
The actress recently tweeted a picture of her reading a Captain Marvel comic while wearing a Captain Marvel top. See the picture and tweet below:

According to Variety, Larson was the presumed favorite for the part in a race that at one time included big names such as Emily Blunt and Natalie Dormer. It was later confirmed that Larson had snagged the role.
Larson will play Carol Danvers, a U.S. Air Force pilot who is involved in a serious explosion, leading her DNA to be fused with that of an alien. This leads her to gain the powers of flight, superhuman strength, stamina, speed and durability, as well as energy projection and absorption. Although she is first referred to as Ms. Marvel in the comics, she later takes up the mantle of Captain Marvel. She has a regular appearance in the Avengers in the comics as well, leading some to believe Larson could appear in one of those films before “Captain Marvel” debuts.
“Inside Out” scribe Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) are at work on the script for the film, which will be directed by Elizabeth Wood. Kevin Feige (“The Avengers”) is producing.
“Captain Marvel” will be the first film headlined by a female superhero under the current Marvel Cinematic Universe umbrella.
This marks another big project for Larson, who has floated between prestige pics such as the upcoming “The Glass Castle” and big-budget films like “Kong: Skull Island.”
“Captain Marvel” is being scheduled for a March 8, 2019 release date.
