2016 Oscar Circuit Guide: Award Hopefuls Debuting at Venice, TIFF, and NYFF

dir. Jim Jarmusch – NYFF – Amazon Studios/Bleecker Street

Another Amazon combo, this time with newer kid on the block, Bleecker Street (“Trumbo”).  Writer/director Jim Jarmusch has been someone you think would have found some love with the Academy by now, with features like “Broken Flowers” and “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai.”  Often times, our most cherished writers and directors are “too indie” for their own good.  Regardless, “Paterson” can prove to be a chance to get him on the watchlist, as well as give a chance to newly minted megastar Adam Driver, who will also have “Silence” this year with Martin Scorsese.
