EuropaCorp has just released a new trailer and poster from their upcoming political thriller “Miss Sloane.” The film is the story of a brilliant but ruthless lobbyist (Jessica Chastain) who is notorious for her unparalleled talent and her desire to win at all costs, even when it puts her own career at risk.
“Shakespeare in Love” director John Madden directed the two-time Oscar nominee in the film. Jonny Perera wrote the screenplay.
The official synopsis is as follows:
“Miss Sloane” is the story a ruthless lobbyist (Jessica Chastain) who is notorious for her unparalleled talent and her desire to win at all costs, even when it puts her own career at risk. The thriller pulls back the curtain on how Capitol Hill games are played and won as Sloane faces off against the most influential powers in D.C.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the film, Chastain explains the film’s position, or lack thereof, on gun control. “Gun control is divisive because some people are immediately afraid that it’s a kind of confiscation,” she says. “And people who hear that in regards to this film will think it’s a plant to move them in one direction. It’s not.”
Instead, Madden compares the film to “Spotlight,” saying, “Our film is about the pursuit of a goal and the pressures that are brought to bear, and it’s properly thrilling in ways you don’t expect. And it pays very close attention to the people who work in this world.”
Mark Strong, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Stuhlbarg, Alison Pill, Jake Lacy, Sam Waterston and John Lithgow also co-star in the film.
“Miss Sloane” is scheduled for a late-in-the-race release of Dec. 9. Check out the poster and trailer below.
