The Austin Film Festival & Screenwriters Conference announced its Centerpiece and Closing Night Films Tuesday. Coming-of-age dramedy “The Edge of Seventeen” is the Centerpiece film, while boxing drama “Bleed for This” will close the fest.

“The Edge of Seventeen” closed Toronto International Film Festival last week. The film stars Oscar nominees Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson. Writer and director Kelly Fremon Craig and producer James L. Brooks will be on hand for the film and a Q&A after the screening. Brooks has written such hits as “As Good as It Gets,” “The Simpsons” and “Terms of Endearment.”

“Bleed for This” stars Miles Teller (“Whiplash”) as world champion boxer Vinny Paz. Aaron Eckhart also co-stars, and his performance gained major notice from the TIFF crowd. Writer/director Ben Younger will also be in attendance for a post-screening conversation.

Other additions to the Festival program include Jonás Cuarón‘s thriller “Desierto,” which stars Gael Garcia Bernal. The road trip drama “Youth in Oregon,” which stars Frank Langella, Christina Applegate and Billy Crudup, will also screen at the fest.

AFF previously announced Oscar big hitters “La La Land,” “Loving” and “Lion” would also headline the fest as marquee features. “Loving” is opening the festival, with director/writer Jeff Nichols in attendance. In addition, “Trespass Against Us” (starring Michael Fassbender and Brendan Gleeson) and “Wakefield,” starring Bryan Cranston and Jennifer Garner, will also screen.

The 23rd annual Austin Film Festival runs this year from Oct. 13-20.

AFF is funded and supported in part by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts and the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department. All attendees/events are based on permitting schedules and are subject to change and/or cancellation without notice. Badges and passes are available for purchase online or by calling 1-800-310-FEST
