2017 Awards Circuit In Line Series: 25 Actresses for an Oscar Win

24. Joan Allen

BEST PERFORMANCE: “The Crucible” (1996)

One of the only actresses to play against two different Hannibal Lecters, Joan Allen remains one of the most overdue actresses in Hollywood. Allen quickly amassed three nominations between 1995 and 2000, with many SAG and Golden Globe nominations in her pocket as well. However, Allen has yet to win any of the big awards, making her overdue across the board. With supporting performances in “Nixon,” “The Crucible” and “Room,” Allen has made herself an obvious supporting actress winner at some point in her career. Unfortunately, her TV series “The Family” was cancelled after one season in 2016, leaving her current schedule wide open.
