2017 Awards Circuit In Line Series: 25 Actresses for an Oscar Win

1. Viola Davis

It’s become second nature for anyone to cite how damn talented Viola Davis is. She’s broken some incredible barriers throughout her career. She became just the second black woman to garner a second Oscar nomination for her role in “The Help.” Her loss there was the complaint of much internet chatter before she went on to become the first black actress to win an Emmy award in the Lead Actress, Drama category for her work on ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder.” She’s in full force these days, on the cusp once again with an outstanding performance in “Fences.” It surely won’t end there. A highly anticipated Harriet Tubman biopic is probably sure to put her in the thick of another heated future Oscar race. Our guess is, this will be the one and only time you’ll see her on this list…before we create the one that has actors looking for their second Oscar. 🙂
