2017 Awards Circuit In Line Series: 25 Actresses for an Oscar Win

17. Samantha Morton

BEST PERFORMANCE: “In America” (2003)

After building a career on British television, Samantha Morton was nominated for her first Oscar not long after switching to film. Woody Allen’s “Sweet and Lowdown” was her third big screen project and solidified her status as a talented actress. She followed that nomination up three years later with a nomination for “In America.” Her appearance in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” isn’t likely to garner her any awards and Morton’s upcoming projects are mostly television-bound. But we look forward to seeing what else she has to offer in the next few years.
