Recap: Hawaii Film Critics Society Winners – Ties All Around

Some of the last few critics groups weighed in with their decisions over the weekend. Among them was the Hawaii Film Critics Society who dubbed “La La Land” Best Picture. Damien Chazelle also took Best Director.

Although those prizes were not split, several of the group’s decisions were. Michael Shannon (“Nocturnal Animals”) and Jeff Bridges (“Hell or High Water”) tied in Best Supporting Actor. “Arrival” and “Doctor Strange” tied in Visual Effects. “La La Land” song  “Audition (Fools Who Dream)” tied with Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “How Far I’ll Go” from “Moana.”

Best Animated Film, Best Foreign Language Film and Worst Film all saw ties as well.
