The first look images of Kenneth Branagh‘s “Murder on the Orient Express” are here, and they give us our first real look at the film’s gorgeous production design and exquisite period costumes.
The images, which come by way of Entertainment Weekly, can be viewed below:
In addition to directing, Branagh is also starring as the iconic Agatha Christie character detective Hercule Poirot. Michael Green (“Blade Runner 2049”) adapted the screenplay from Christie’s novel of the same name.
For those unfamiliar with the source material, the film tells the story of a lavish train ride through Europe that quickly unfolds into the thrilling mystery of 13 strangers stranded on a train, where everyone’s a suspect. One man must race against time to solve the puzzle before the murderer strikes again.
The film also features a star-studded cast that includes Johnny Depp, Judi Dench, Michelle Pfeiffer, Josh Gad, Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Olivia Colman, Leslie Odom Jr., Willem Dafoe, Tom Bateman and Derek Jacobi.
The first footage of the film showed at CinemaCon in March. Initial word from attendees was positive, but as of now, there is no available footage from the film.
Agatha Christie and her mystery novels are seeing a resurgence of late. This film is not the only one in development that relates to the famous mystery author. Last June reports surfaced that two different biopics centering on Christie are vying for approval from her estate to proceed, something that can take years to accomplish.
It reportedly took Fox seven years to do just that for “Murder on the Orient Express.”
The film hits theaters Nov. 10.
