They’re back for 1 last swan song. The trailer for “Pitch Perfect 3,” the penultimate film in the a cappella-themed franchise, has just been released. The film follows the Bellas, who have all graduated from college and are struggling to make it in the real world. Bemoaning the atrocious job market and reminiscing on their time in their all-girl group, the Bellas decide to perform together 1 last time. The stakes have never been higher as the Bellas struggle to find their place in the world.
The entire cast of “Pitch Perfect” and “Pitch Perfect 2” have returned for the final installment of the blockbuster franchise. The film is set to star Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Chrissie Fit, Kelley Jakle, Shelley Regner, Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins. In addition, Ruby Rose (“Orange is the New Black”) and John Lithgow (“The Crown”) are also set to star. No, that’s not a typo, John Lithgow will be in the film. “Pitch Perfect 3” is produced by Paul Brooks of Gold Circle Entertainment and Max Handelman and Elizabeth Banks of Brownstone Productions. Trish Sie (“Step Up: All In”) is directing.
The franchise is known for its catchy songs, irreverent jokes, and high-octane performances, and has smashed box office expectations for the past 2 films. According to Variety, “Pitch Perfect 2” made over $107.5 million globally from a budget of only $29 million. The film made history with the high figure as the 3rd-highest grossing film ever directed by a female director (Banks). Judging by its trailer, “Pitch Perfect 3” could do as well as its predecessor.
“Pitch Perfect 3” premieres Christmas Day, 2017. Watch the official trailer below.
