According to new reports, Daniel Craig (“Skyfall”), the last leading man to take on the ‘007’ role, is returning to the “James Bond” franchise. The news is rather surprising, as the actor previously said to Time Out he’d rather “slash his wrists” than do another Bond film, remarking “I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.” But where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and according to the Independent, it looks like Craig has changed his mind. Apparently, franchise producer Barbara Broccoli (“Skyfall”) worked some magic and has “secured” the actor for another film, with the Mirror reporting she believes filming could start as early as next year. It’s a smart bit of negotiating for Broccoli, as Skyfall was the biggest box-office hit of the franchise, grossing over $1.1 billion worldwide.
But that’s not the only famous face Broccoli is working to bring back. The Mirror has reported Broccoli is also working to bring back Adele to record another theme song for the next film. Adele and co-songwriter Paul Epworth won a Brit Award, Grammy and a Golden Globe for her song “Skyfall,” the theme tune to the last James Bond film Craig starred in. It was the first time a James Bond theme song had received so many accolades.
A premiere date has not been announced for the untitled James Bond film. Listen to Adele’s “Skyfall” below.
