The second trailer for “Blade Runner 2049” has been released, and it looks just as great as the first. Ryan Gosling (“La La Land“) and Harrison Ford (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens“) star in the “Blade Runner” sequel. The film is set 30 years after the 1982 film, and follows Gosling’s character LAPD officer K as he discovers a secret that could smash his debilitated society into smithereens. Ford reprises the role of Rick Deckard, a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Robin Wright (“Wonder Woman“), Dave Bautista (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2“) and Jared Leto (“Dallas Buyers Club“) star alongside Gosling and Ford. “Blade Runner 2049” also features Ana De Arma (“War Dogs”), MacKenzie Davis (“Halt and Catch Fire”), Sylvia Hoeks (“All the Devil’s Men”), Lennie James (“The Walking Dead”), and Carla Juri (“Paula”). “Blade Runner 2049” boasts several of its original makers, along with original lead Ford. The sci-fi action flick is executive produced by original producer Ridley Scott (“The Martian”) and directed by Denis Villeneuve (“Arrival“). Encouragingly, the film’s script is written by “Blade Runner” writer Hampton Fancher and Michael Green (“Logan”). Several characters are also inspired by Philip K. Dick’s novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”
The original “Blade Runner” was a hit at the box office and with critics, garnering two Oscar nominations and a Golden Globe nomination. “Blade Runner” also won three BAFTA awards. The original film follows Ford’s Rick Deckard, tasked with finding four replicants who steal a space ship on a journey to find their creator. Hopefully, the new sequel does just as well as its predecessor.
“Blade Runner 2049” premieres Oct. 6. Watch the second trailer below, and get the lowdown on the first trailer here.
