Sony Pictures released the first trailer for its upcoming film, “Only the Brave.”
Filmed under the working title “Granite Mountain Hotshots,” it is the true story of a team of firefighters. In 2013, a wildfire near Prescott, Ariz., claimed the lives of 19.
“Only the Brave” stars Josh Brolin. Brolin was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for “Milk.” He also starred in “True Grit,” “W.,” and will appear as Cable in next year’s “Deadpool 2.”
Reuniting with Brolin is Jeff Bridges. The two starred together in “True Grit,” and Bridges was nominated for Best Actor. He also won the prize for “Crazy Heart,” and was most recently nominated for last year’s “Hell or High Water.”
Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly is also in the cast. Connelly lent her voice to “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and will star in next year’s television adaptation of “Snowpiercer.”
The film also stars Miles Teller (“Whiplash”), Taylor Kitsch (“Lone Survivor”), and Andie MacDowell (“Groundhog Day”).
Joseph Kosinski directed the film. He previously directed the sci-fi flicks “TRON: Legacy” and “Oblivion.” He will soon begin filming “Top Gun: Maverick.”
Ken Nolan and Eric Warren Singer wrote the screenplay. Nolan’s past writing credits include “Black Hawk Down” and “Transformers: The Last Night.” He is also signed on to pen the rumored seventh and eighth films in the Transformers franchise. Singer shared an Academy Award nomination with David O. Russell for their original screenplay, “American Hustle.”
