Showrunner Ryan Murphy has just announced Emma Roberts’ (“Nerve”) return to “American Horror Story” in a post to his Instagram, according to EW. Roberts had previously appeared as a series regular on the FX horror series for three seasons as characters Maggie Esmerelda, Madison Montgomery, and Miss Rothschild.
Roberts also shared the reveal photo (pictured below), with the caption “I’ve joined #ahscult will you?,” tagging Murphy and show writer John J Gray in her post.
Roberts will be reuniting with series regulars Sarah Paulson (“Carol”), Evan Peters (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”), and Cheyenne Jackson (“30 Rock”). “Scream Queens” alum Billie Lourd, Colton Haynes (“Arrow”), Billy Eichner (“Parks and Recreation”), Lena Dunham (“Girls”), and Alison Pill (“The Newsroom”) will also be joining the cast as newcomers to the horror series, according to Elite Daily. Roberts has previously worked with Lourd on “Scream Queens,” one of Murphy’s other hit shows.
This season’s title, which changes every year to reflect the new horror story to unfold on the show, is “Cult.” The first official images for the upcoming season strongly suggest a circus theme.
“American Horror Story: Cult” premieres Sept. 5 at 10 p.m. on FX. Watch the seventh season’s trailer below.
