55th New York Film Festival Main Slate Announced

Officials for the 55th New York Film Festival announced the main slate of films on Tuesday.

Opening Night selection “Last Flag Flying” from Richard Linklater was previously announced. The Centerpiece and Closing Night selections were announced earlier, as well. Todd Haynes’ “Wonderstruck” is the Centerpiece and Woody Allen’s “Wonder Wheel” will close the festival.

The Main Slate is comprised of 25 films, eight of which were directed by women. Greta Gerwig’s “Lady Bird” and Dee Rees’ “Mudbound” were both selected. “Mudbound” received a standing ovation when it debuted at Sundance earlier this year. The film was subsequently acquired by Netflix.

Cannes Palme D’Or winner “The Square” will also play at NYFF. The film from writer/director Ruben Östlund stars Claes Bang, Elisabeth Moss, and Dominic West.

Other selections include Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me by Your Name,” Robin Campillo’s “BPM/120 battements par minute,” and Sean Baker’s “The Florida Project.”
