The first official looks at Cable from “Deadpool 2” is here, and they certainly doesn’t disappoint. Ryan Reynolds, who stars in and produces the “Deadpool” films, released two official images of Josh Brolin (“Sicario”) as Cable via Twitter. Check them out below.
In the first image, Brolin’s Cable is seen shushing the viewer with one bionic finger over his grimacing mouth. Reynolds captioned the photo with an apt description of the character, saying, “We all have that one, grumpy, heavily armed Uncle from the future. #PremiumCABLE #JoshBrolin.” Cable is “the time-traveling, genetically-engineered mutant offspring of Scott Summers and a clone of Jean Grey,” according to Screencrush.
The second photo features Cable staring in the camera, hefting a huge machine gun on one muscled arm and wearing an arsenal strapped to his torso. His bionic arm and eye are prominent, as is the teddy bear (???) hung on his belt. The photo is captioned, “Deadpool 2: Your premium #Cable provider. #Deadpool 2″
The pics come just a few days after Reynolds revealed the first image of Zazie Beetz (“Atlanta”) as Domino via Twitter. The photo is a parody of Reynold’s first pic as Deadpool, where he’s seen lying on a bear rug à la Burt Reynolds before a roaring fire, wearing Deadpool’s signature red suit. Domino is seen lying in a similar position, but this time, the merc with the mouth is her “red carpet.”
Brolin is currently contracted for four different comic book films, including “Deadpool 2,” “X-Force,” and Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” and its sequel as bad guy space king Thanos.
The film will feature Morena Baccarin (“Homeland”) as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams (“Empire”) as Blind AI, Stefan Kapacic (“Big Miracle”) as Colossus, and Brianna Hildebrand (“First Girl I Loved”) as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, alongside Reynolds, Brolin and Beetz, according to Consequence of Sound. The film will also feature T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley). The film’s baddie will be played by Jack Kesy (“Baywatch”), who’s rumored to port Black Tom Cassidy, “an Irish mutant with plant-based powers.” The film will be directed by David Leitch (“Atomic Blonde”), and penned by writing partners Rhett Reese (“Zombieland”), Paul Wernick (“Life”), with additional input from Drew Goddard (“The Martian”).
“Deadpool 2” comes to theaters June 1, 2018.
