Magnolia Pictures released the official trailer for its film “The Square.”
Winner of the Palme D’Or at the 2017 Festival du Cannes, stars Danish actor Claes Bang as a curator for a museum of contemporary art. As he prepares for his next show, “The Square,” he finds himself wrapped into a spiral of events that begins when his phone is stolen. His situation is made worse when the museum’s PR agency creates an unusual campaign for the show.
Elisabeth Moss and Dominic West also star in the film. Moss is currently up for a Primetime Emmy for her leading performance in “The Handmaid’s Tale.” She also starred in the multiple Emmy-winning series “Mad Men. West has also appeared in a number of film and TV series including “Chicago,” “300,” and “The Wire.”
Ruben Östlund wrote and directed the film. The Swedish-born directed is best known for the film “Force Majeure,” which was nominated for a Golden Globe for Foreign Language Film.
“The Square” has screened at major festivals around the world throughout 2017. It will screen at TIFF this week and NYFF later in the month.
The film is scheduled for a limited release on October 27.
