Paramount Pictures unveiled another new clip of upcoming horror film, “mother!”
The marketing campaign for the film has been a slow build, with new clips and images being released as the release date approaches.
“mother!” stars Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem as a couple living an idyllic life in their beautiful home. The tranquil scene is disrupted when two mysterious strangers arrive, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer. You can view the full trailer here. Another clip was released last week, showing tense meeting between Lawrence and Pfeiffer.
In the new clip, shown below, tensions heighten over something as seemingly simple as broken glass. But nothing is simple in “mother!”
The film is Darren Aronofksy’s return to the horror/thriller genre. While his last feature film was “Noah,” he previously directed Best Picture nominee “Black Swan” in 2010. That film earned five Academy Award nominations, including a Best Actress prize for Natalie Portman. Aronofsky himself was nominated for Best Director.
The film screened to strong reactions at the Venice Film Festival on Tuesday. It will screen on Sunday in Toronto. Many viewers have described it as “controversial” and “insane.”
“mother!” is in theaters on September 15.
