Lionsgate released the official trailer for its upcoming film, “Gotti.”
John Travolta plays John Gotti, who became the head of New York’s Gambino Crime Family. Known as the Teflon Don, “Gotti” tells the story of the crime boss’s rise to power. It also highlights the complicated relationship he had with his son.
Travolta is a two-time Academy Award nominee. He began his career in television, getting his break in the late 1970s with roles in “Carrie” and “Saturday Night Fever.” The latter earned him his first nomination. He went on to cement his celebrity status with the fifties-style musical “Grease” in 1978. His career had ups and downs throughout the eighties and early nineties until he was cast in Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” in 1994. This ushered in a new era in Travolta’s career. He was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe last year for his role as Robert Shapiro in FX’s award-winning series “The People vs. OJ Simpson.”
John Travolta’s real-life wife Kelly Preston stars opposite him in “Gotti” as the mob boss’s wife, Victoria. Her film credits include starring roles in films such as “Jerry Maguire,” “For Love of the Game,” and the comedy “Old Dogs.”
“Gotti” also stars Stacy Keach (“Nebraska”), Spencer Lofranco (“Unbroken”), and Ella Bleu Travolta (“Old Dogs”).
The film is directed by Kevin Connolly. The “Entourage” star has directed several projects including television episodes and the 2016 film “Dear Eleanor.” He directs from a script by Lem Dobbs (“The Score”) and Leo Rossi (“The Accused”).
“Gotti” will be released by Lionsgate Premiere in theaters and on demand December 15.
