Deadpool is returning to theaters next summer with his very own sequel, and 20th Century Fox released a red band teaser trailer.
The official synopsis from the studio reads:
“After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.”
The Untitled Deadpool Sequel stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool. He returns with Morena Baccarin and T.J. Miller. This time they are joined by Josh Brolin as Nathan Summers/Cable.
The first “Deadpool” was a surprise hit when it was released in February 2016. The film became the highest grossing R-rated film of all time, and held that position until “It” thrilled audiences this fall. With $363 million in US box office and $783M worldwide, “Deadpool” is by far the highest grossing “X-Men” film.
David Leitch steps in to direct. Tim Miller, who directed the first, is apparently busy working on the Terminator Reboot. Leitch takes over the franchise with a lot of eyes on him. His feature debut was this summer’s “Atomic Blonde,” with Charlize Theron and James McAvoy. While that film didn’t make a lot of money compared to an X-Men movie, it turned a profit and grossed nearly $100M worldwide.
The Untitled Deadpool Sequel will be in theaters June 1, 2018.
