Two heavy hitters might be joining Karyn Kusama’s (“The Invitation”) latest project. Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) and Sebastian Stan (“Logan Lucky”) are currently in negotiations to join Nicole Kidman (“Big Little Lies”) in the LA crime thriller “Destroyer.” Kusama will direct off a script written by Phil Hay (“The Invitation”) and Matt Manfredi (“Ride Along”). “Destroyer” will be produced by the writing duo and Automatick’s Fred Berger (“La La Land”), according to THR.
“Destroyer follows LAPD detective Erin Bell (Kidman) who pulled the short straw for an undercover assignment with a cult-like California gang during her early years with the force. An unfortunate tragedy occurs during her time with the gang. Years later, the gang leader re-emerges and forces Bell to delve into her past to face the chapter of her life that nearly destroyed her. No word yet on who Maslany and Stan will potentially play in the cop thriller.
Maslany won a well-deserved Primetime Emmy for her role on BBC America’s “Orphan Black,” seamlessly playing multiple characters in the sci-fi thriller. Though the show ended earlier this year, she has already signed on to Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series “POSE,” where she will play a modern dance teacher who takes main character Damon under her wing. She’s also appeared in the films “Stronger,” “Woman in Gold” and “The Vow.”
Stan is, of course, best known for playing Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, in the MCU. In between rounds of kicking HYDRA’s ass, the actor’s chameleon-like ability to fit any role has landed him roles in drama and comedy, including “Logan Lucky,” “The Martian,” “Black Swan” and the TV mini-series “Political Animals.” Audiences will see him alongside Margot Robbie (“Suicide Squad”) in the Tonya Harding biopic “I, Tonya,” which hits theaters in December. (Oh, and there’s been some internet buzz about him portraying a young Luke Skywalker in a future Star Wars film. No biggie.)
Maslany is repped by ICM and The Characters Talent Agency. Stan is repped by ICM Partners and Brookside Artist Management.
