Fans saw more than just touchdowns during Thursday Night Football this week. The official trailer for “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” finally dropped after a previous teaser this Monday, and it features the kind of apocalypse hellscape we’ve come to expect from 2017.
The sequel to “Jurassic World” ushers in the return of original star Jeff Goldblum (“Thor: Ragnarok”) as the fate of Jurassic Park is up for debate. Chris Pratt (“Guardians of the Galaxy 2”) and Bryce Dallas Howard (“Black Mirror”) reprise their roles as raptor-tamer Owen and the brilliant Claire, and also features Justice Smith (“Paper Towns”), James Cromwell (“The Young Pope”) and Toby Jones (“Captain America: The First Avenger”), according to Variety. The new, full-length trailer sees the dino-wranglers returning to the island when a smoldering volcano threatens the lives of the now feral dinosaurs living there. Unsurprisingly, the feral dinosaurs are not happy about the return of humans, which the trailer makes abundantly clear. Will the humans survive long enough to save the dinos before the volcano erupts?
The new film is helmed by J.A. Bayona (“A Monster Calls”), with a screenplay from “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly (“Safety Not Guaranteed”). Steven Spielberg (“E.T.”), who directed the original “Jurassic Park” films, executive produces with Trevorrow. Frank Marshall (“Indiana Jones” series), Pat Crowley (“The Bourne Ultimatum”) and Bayona’s producing partner Belén Atienza (“The Impossible”) are producing.
“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” roars into theaters June 22, 2018. Watch the trailer below.
