San Diego Film Critics Announce Award Winners, James McAvoy Picks Up a Win for ‘Split’

Split

As Awards Season rolls on, the San Diego Film Critics Society announced their award winners on Monday afternoon via Twitter.

SDFCS has been rewarding talented filmmakers and worthy films since 2006. Last year, the group showed a lot of love to eventual Best Picture nominee “Hell or High Water.” Will some of their favorites return to the Dolby this spring?

This year’s collection of winners has already earned a number prizes. “Get Out” has won with two other critics groups to date, with more still to come. Likewise, Greta Gerwig’s directorial achievement for “Lady Bird” was rewarded. James McAvoy earned his first win for the M. Night Shyamalan film, “Split,” which was in theaters very early in the year. And Sally Hawkins, who starred in two critical favorites this year was runner up to herself in the Best Actress category.
