“Homeland” has finally given us a first look at Season 7 and an official premiere date. Showtime announced Tuesday that the network drama will return this February as Carrie (Claire Danes,“The Hours”) tries to take on President Keane (Elizabeth Marvel, “The Meyerowitz Stories”) after the arrest of 200 intelligence operatives.
Things have taken a turn for the worse after Season 6’s explosive finale. President Keane has arrested a large number of the intelligence community after the attempt on her life, with no plans to charge the accused; even Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin, “Wonder”) is under attack, according to the new trailer. Carrie has quit her job at the White House and is hellbent on taking down the corrupt administration and freeing the members of the intelligence community being held against their will. Will Carrie succeed before it’s too late?
Danes, Patinkin and Marvel return alongside Linus Roache (“Non-Stop”), Maury Sterling (“Coherence”) and Jake Weber (“Hell on Wheels”). Season 7 will also welcome newcomers Morgan Spector (“The Mist”) and Costa Ronin (“The Americans”) to the “Homeland” cast, according to Variety. Show creators Alex Gansa (“The X-Files”) and Howard Gordon (“24”) will helm and executive produce this season. Chip Johannessen, Lesli Linka Glatter, Patrick Harbinson, Danes, Michael Klick, Ron Nyswaner, Avi Nir, Ran Telem and Gideon Raff will also executive produce. “Homeland” is based on the original Israeli series “Prisoners of Wars,” which was created by Raff.
“Homeland” returns on Feb. 11, 2018 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime. Watch the new trailer for Season 7 below.
