Welcome back to Academy Idol 11! We’re back to report the results of our last round and jump into our Top 7. We’re eliminating a big contender this week, so let’s jump right in.
To start, we’ll go with our top 3 for the week. Our top three look familiar again, repeating last week’s top three. This leaves us with “Call Me By Your Name,” “Lady Bird,” and “The Shape of Water” to do battle. Once again “Call Me By Your Name” wins the week. To this point, it is the only film that has reached the top three in each week. This is the film’s 3rd time as our weekly champ. “The Shape of Water” and “Lady Bird” have also made the top three four times each (and each won their division in the round of 30). It’s still a tight race, but “Call Me By Your Name” is a top-tier runner at this point.
With those three safe, let’s look at our bottom three. Our three up for elimination are “Logan,” “Blade Runner 2049” and “Get Out.” This is the first time “Get Out” found its way into the bottom three. “Logan” and “Blade Runner 2049” have both found their way to the bottom three before. In fact, “Logan” has been in the bottom three for the last four weeks. However, it will be safe again, as “Get Out” is our contender going home. Coming into the week, the film had not finished below 5th in the voting, but with a reduced number of votes, this may have hurt the film’s chances.
With that work in mind, let’s turn to our Academy Idol 11 Top 7. This week, we’re looking at the Best Performance from each film. There are some films left that have several great performances, so it’s up to the readers to decide which film they see as their single favorite. Let’s do a quick recap of some of the great performances from these films to keep in mind.
