Cinedigm released new images and an official trailer for its upcoming comedy, “Dear Dictator.”
Academy Award winner Michael Caine stars as the dictator of a small island nation. When he is forced to flee under political turmoil, he seeks out his teenage American pen pal, Tatiana (Odeya Rush). While the girl helps him hide, he teaches her how to stage a rebellion against the mean girls at school.
Caine has won two Academy Awards, both in supporting roles. His first was for “Hannah and Her Sister” in 1987, and the second was for “The Cider House Rules” in 2002.
Odeya Rush has been acting in films and television since around 2010. She recently appeared in the award-winning film, “Lady Bird.”
Katie Holmes stars as Tatiana’s single mom. In 2017 she played Jackie Kennedy in the mini-series for the Reelz Channel. She will soon appear in “Ocean’s 8” this summer.
“Dear Dictator” also stars Jason Biggs and Seth Green.
Lisa Addario and Joe Syracuse co-wrote and co-directed the film. The two have previously worked together on “Amateur Night” and “Lover Girl.”
Cinedigm is the distributor. The company began theatrical film distribution in 2012 and has worked on films including “The Invisible War,” “Hell and Back Again,” and “GasLand.” They also handled the theatrical releases of “Short Term 12” and “Amateur Night.”
The film will be available in theaters and on demand March 16.
