TNT has released new key art and a new trailer for its upcoming third season of “Animal Kingdom.”
The series picks up after last season’s cliffhanger that left Baz shot on his way to Mexico after framing Smurf for murder.
Emmy and Tony Award winner Ellen Barkin is Smurf, the matriarch of the Cody crime family. In season 3, she is stuck in jail and her grandson J (Finn Cole) is running the family business. Predictably, this leads to a lot of infighting, especially when dad Billy (Denis Leary) comes back to town and stirs up more trouble.
Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, and Jake Weary also star.
Ellen Barkin won an Emmy for “Before Women Had Wings” in 1997. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe for the same performance. She has also starred in many films and TV series over the years. Last year she appeared in HBO’s TV movie, “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.”
Prior to “Animal Kingdom,” Finn Cole starred in “Peaky Blinders” which was distributed by Netflix in the US and the BBC in the UK. He will soon appear alongside Margot Robbie in the thriller, “Dreamland.”
Denis Leary is the four-time Emmy nominee for his series “Rescue Me,” as well as for the HBO TV Movie, “Recount.” He does been working in film and television for years, including “The Sandlot,” “Wag the Dog,” and “The Thomas Crown Affair.”
In its second season, “Animal Kingdom” rose to the top 20 for cable dramas, with an average of 4.1 million viewers per episode. The series saw a staggering 61% increase in viewership from its first season, presumably due to increased marketing by the network.
“Animal Kingdom” will return on May 29, and resume its time slot of 9PM ET/PT on Tuesdays.
Be sure to watch this new trailer for the upcoming season.
