WATCH: New ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Trailer Showcases a Possible Best Actor Bid for Rami Malek

One of the films that seems destined to draw some pretty diverse opinions from fans and critics alike is “Bohemian Rhapsody” from 20th Century Fox. The film follows the band Queen and should have a chance to be a big hit. The film had been stuck in development for years, often circling Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury. However, the project finally got going under the stewardship of director Bryan Singer and with lead actor Raimi Malek.

A few weeks ago, we received our first teaser trailer for the movie. Today, 20th Century Fox released a larger trailer for the prestige picture. You can watch the trailer below.

The IMDB synopsis is as follows:

A chronicle of the years leading up to Queen’s legendary appearance at the Live Aid (1985) concert in 1985.

The feature has already drawn controversy for many issues during production. Singer left the project before filming was complete. There are various rumors as to why Singer left the project, but regardless of the official reason, Singer did not return to complete the movie.

Second, there still seems to be confusion over whether or not the film is going to acknowledge Mercury’s AIDS diagnosis. Mercury’s death as a result of the AIDS virus was a watershed moment in public knowledge about the disease. In popular culture, Mercury’s link to the plague that killed thousands. Rumor has it that “Bohemian Rhapsody” will not discuss it. While this trailer seems to acknowledge something was wrong, it never directly uses the word.  While Malek looks energetic and exciting as Mercury, he may not get his due if the film’s narrative does not satisfy audiences.
