One of the landmark directors of the past thirty years has been Quentin Tarantino. The legendary filmmaker is known for his controversial movies, which feature violence and pop culture driven screenplays. While “Pulp Fiction” remains his triumph, Tarantino has had a pretty strong run since “Inglourious Basterds” in 2009. His next film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” will take place in 1969 in Hollywood, California. The famed director always gets great ensembles, and now he’s adding Lena Dunham to the film.
Dunham is well known as one of the creators and stars of “Girls” for HBO. The actress/director/writer has her own style that has helped her become an interesting figure in the entertainment industry. She’s an interesting choice to add to a Tarantino film but also feels like someone who can succeed in his style. Her dry humor should fit well, but he’s likely to give her a showy scene or two as well.
Dunham was not the only addition to the cast. Maya Hawke, Austin Butler, and Lorenza Izzo also joined the cast. Hawke’s addition is particularly interesting because she is the daughter of Uma Thurman, noted Tarantino collaborator. However, Thurman brought some problematic issues to light about the director earlier this year. Hawke will join the cast of “Stranger Things” season 3, so she’s clearly an actress to watch.
Tarantino’s packed the cast of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” with talented actors. Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio lead the cast, that will also feature Margot Robbie playing famed actress Sharon Tate. The Manson family murders are sure to play a role in the film, which has created controversy. With Al Pacino, Damian Lewis, Kurt Russell, James Marsden, Timothy Olyphant, and Dakota Fanning are also on board. The crazy talented cast may overcome the controversy.
