On the agenda:

  • Kicking things off with a look at the Animated Feature race that includes “Smallfoot” in the race now.
  • NYFF has officially kicked off and it started with “The Favourite” from Yorgos Lanthimos.  We discuss its PROPER category placement.  Also talking about “Cold War,” the official submission for Poland, and “If Beale Street Could Talk” from Barry Jenkins.
  • “Stan & Ollie” debuted a trailer and we’re talking about its entry into the Oscar race.
  • We talk about our “star system,” better known as the way we grade our movies on the site.
  • Cinephile Showdowns have us talking about “The Sandlot” and “Rookie of the Year” (among others).
  • “The Shallow” debuted on radio waves everywhere (including a music video) from “A Star is Born.”
  • Category placements for the co-leads are on our minds.  Who is offending us this season?
