HBO has long been a destination for stars to come to television. Since the days of “The Sopranos,” strong actors have found their way into prestige television projects. The rise of the limited series in recent years has allowed HBO to bring bigger stars to the network. The biggest success recently came from “Big Little Lies” in 2017. The series earned Nicole KidmanAlexander Skarsgård, and Laura Dern Emmys for their work. It also inspired a sequel season, adding Meryl Streep to the loaded cast. Kidman continues to expand her working relationship with HBO with the new series “The Undoing.” That series has added another big piece, with Hugh Grant now joining the cast.

According to TVLine, Grant will play Kidman’s husband in “The Undoing.” The novel, “You Should Have Known” follows a successful psychologist, Grace Sachs (Kidman), who is about to release her first book.  However, when her husband disappears, revelations begin to come out about him. Grace suffers several tragedies and begins to question everything about her world and the life she knew.

Hot off a strong limited series, “A Very English Scandal,” Grant stands a strong chance to receive an Emmy nomination this year. Returning to the world of television is a smart play for Grant. “The Undoing” will be adapted by David E. Kelly, who also adapted “Big Little Lies.” Kelly will also serve as the showrunner for the series. With Kidman and Grant headlining the series, it seems likely that the new limited series will draw more talent to the series. The show will look to air in 2019, so expect more announcements for the HBO series in the coming weeks.
