After starring together in “The Help,” Octavia Spencer and Bryce Dallas Howard will reunite for another project. Thankfully, the title of this project suggests they might be friendlier this time around. Both actresses will star in the ensemble comedy “Fairy Tale Ending” for Universal.
According to THR, Universal acquired the pitch from Jim Hecht and Tracy McMillan who will pen the script. Also, “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane will serve as a producer. Howard will produce as well through her company, Nine Muses Entertainment. Plus, Spencer will serve as an executive producer along with Hecht and McMillan.
The plot details on “Fairy Tale Ending” are unknown. However, having both Bryce Dallas Howard and Octavia Spencer collaborating again is surely magical. That alone should draw some interest. Plus, while Spencer has proven herself to be a gifted comedienne, Howard isn’t as well-known for that. So, this is quite an exciting segway for her.
This project is one that adds to Spencer’s busy slate. She’s been making the award rounds for “Green Book” for which she is an executive producer. She also just starred in the comedy “Instant Family” and has “Luce” premiering at Sundance very soon.
As for Howard, she recently did a voice role in “A Dog’s Way Home” which is currently in theaters. She’s also coming off the billion dollar hit “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” and has a supporting role in “Rocketman” coming this summer.
“Fairy Tale Ending” currently doesn’t have a director attached. But because the project already has starry acting talent and producers involved, it might not be too long before one’s announced.
