London Film Critics’ Circle Winners Revealed: ‘Roma’ Takes Top Honors While ‘The Favourite’ Reigns Supreme

One of the last critics groups to announce their awards winners revealed them yesterday. The London Film Critics’ Circle ensured that “The Favourite” lived up to its title since it picked up four wins. However, “Roma” still came out strong, winning Director of the Year for Alfonso Cuaron and Film of the Year. But while “The Favourite” didn’t win the top prize, it still won British/Irish Film of the Year.

Also, “Cold War” won both Foreign Language Film of the Year and Technical Achievement of the Year for its cinematography. Meanwhile, the psychological thriller “Beast” took home two prizes celebrating U.K. cinema. It won British/Irish Actress of the Year for Jessie Buckley and Breakthrough British/Irish Filmmaker of the Year for Michael Pearce.

In addition, Ethan Hawke and Richard E. Grant continued their impressive critical run, winning Lead and Supporting Actor of the Year, respectively. Lastly, while “Faces Places” had its awards run last year, it managed to continue as it won Documentary of the Year.
