As the Sundance Film Festival wraps up for 2019, folks not lucky enough to be in Park City can begin to get excited for these movies to come their way. It may take months, or even almost a year, but the best of the fest will eventually hit your local theater. To that end, we’re curious about something today. Which Sundance titles from this year are the ones you can’t wait to see?
Sundance is always good for a crowd pleaser or two. This year, one really strong candidate to be a break out hit is “Blinded By the Light.” Musically themed films tend to emerge out of Utah with strong buzz most years, and 2019 is no exception, as this recently sold to New Line. A Pakistani teen coming of age to the music of Bruce Springsteen in 1987 Britain sounds positively phenomenal. “Late Night” is another that’s likely to find a decently wide audience at some point in the near future.
In terms of possible awards players, “The Report” seems like one to really watch out for. Amazon purchased it, likely with the thought that it could be their next Oscar vehicle. Hot off of his first Academy Award nomination, could Adam Driver find himself back in the running? Maybe Annette Bening could finally score a win? If you read this site, you likely care about prestige fare like this. According to those at Sundance, it’s one of the best bets to contend.
We put the question to you now. Which films out of Sundance this year have you most excited to see them? Let us know!
