One of the biggest recent tragedies in Hollywood was the accidental death of actor Anton Yelchin. Today would have been his birthday, so we wanted to pay tribute to him. To that end, we’re asking for your favorite memories or performances from Yelchin. He left us too soon, though the body of work he presented in that short span was undoubtedly impressive.
Yelchin is probably best known for his work in the most recent “Star Trek” outings. Playing the role of Chekov, he managed to mix youthful exuberance with some comic relief, helping to put forward a really winning ensemble. His other highly acclaimed performance came in the festival favorite “Like Crazy.” Felicity Jones got most of the attention, but Yelchin was a bit reason why it was such a success. Most recently, he was seen in last year’s “Thoroughbreds,” which represented a memorable turn for the talented young man.
Some other strong performances from the actor included turns in “5 to 7,” “Alpha Dog,” “The Beaver,” “Charlie Bartlett,” and “Fright Night,” just to name a few. It’s such a shame that we’re not due to see him in any upcoming releases. Besides just being part of the “Star Trek” appeal, he made everything he was in better. The cinematic world is a lesser place for having lost Yelchin so early on in his career.
Let us pay tribute to Anton Yelchin today, on what would have been his birthday. What is your favorite performance by the late actor? We’re all ears!
