Jason Blum and Blumhouse continues to bring interesting filmmakers into their fold. One of their upcoming projects is no exception, as “Compliance” and “Z for Zachariah” helmer Craig Zobel is on board to direct “The Hunt” for the company. In addition, Damon Lindelof is one of the screenwriters, which makes for an intriguing pairing. Today, they continued to round out their cast, adding a talented actress to the mix.
Deadline has the story, which details how Blumhouse’s upcoming “The Hunt” has added Betty Gilpin to its cast. Co-written by Linelof, Zobel is directing the film, which also stars Ike Barinholtz and Emma Roberts. The movie supposedly deals with escalating tension between the political factions in America, presumably leading to violence.
From the article:
Betty Gilpin, who recently appeared on the silver screen in New Line’s rom-com Isn’t It Romantic, has officially boarded The Hunt, the Universal Pictures/BlumhouseProductions action thriller penned Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse. The Emmy nominated star of Netflix’s female wrestling series, GLOW, joins Ike Barinholtz, Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, and Glenn Howerton in the film which is being directed by Craig Zobel.
Scheduled for release in October, the pic explores escalating aggressiveness between the political right and left in America. Jason Blum will produce alongside Lindelof for his White Rabbit shingle. Exec producers are Cuse and Zobel. Erik Baiers, Jay Polidoro, and Mika Pryce will oversee the project on behalf of Universal.
It’s a good time to be Gilpin. Currently starring on “GLOW,” she also could have a comedy hit in “Stuber” later on this year. “The Hunt” represents another potential strong project for her.
