Focus Features and Carnival Film & Television have released four character posters for the upcoming film “Downton Abbey.” The film is an adaptation of the Golden Globe-winning television series, which follows the Crawley family, a wealthy family of an estate, and their servants, set in the 20th century.
The series story from Focus Features:
The television series Downton Abbey followed the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20th century in an Edwardian English country house. Over its 6 seasons, the series garnered 3 Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, 69 Emmy nominations in total, making Downton Abbey the most nominated non-US television show in the history of the Emmys – even earning a Special BAFTA award and a Guinness World Record for the highest critically rated TV show along the way.
Julian Fellowes, the writer, and creator of the series serves as an executive producer of the film along with Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge. Michael Engler is taking the director’s chair. Engler has directed many episodes of television which include “30 Rock,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Shmidt,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and a handful of the original “Downtown Abbey” series.
Fans of the hit BBC show caught a glimpse of what’s in store from December’s teaser trailer. As we await the full-length version, character posters from Focus Features tease some of the returning characters.
