With the release of Neil Marshall‘s “Hellboy” next month, the film’s official Twitter page released four new images of David Harbour as the razor-sharp half demon.
After the dose of fun gore from the red band trailer earlier this month, the new stills show more of the superhero in action. The Dark Horse Comics character sets off working as part of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense and finds some obstacles along the way of battling the dark forces of the underworld. Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro‘s 2004 film “Hellboy” was the first telling of the comics, garnering wide praise from fans and critics alike. The hit comic film starred Ron Perlman in the titular role and grossed over $99 million worldwide at the box office.
The upcoming adaptation also stars Ian McShane as Hellboy’s father figure. Other supporting cast members include Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchell as the elder witch Ganeida, and Daniel Dae Kim as Major Ben Daimio. Milla Jovovich, star of the “Resident Evil” franchise and certainly no stranger to cinema’s slashing dark tales, is the villain, Blood Queen Nimue.
The series of “Hellboy” films are based on Mike Mignola’s story concept from the Dark Horse Comics publications, which released in 1993. The script is written by Andrew Cosby, who’s done work in the past writing and directing the comedy-drama series “Eureka.”
Moreover, Benjamin Wallfisch, a composer from 2017 hits like “It” and “Blade Runner 2049,” is composing the score for “Hellboy.”
Check out the images below of Hellboy himself. David Harbour can also be seen as Jim Hopper on Netflix‘s “Stranger Things,” as it returns for its third season July 4, 2019.
Lionsgate and Dark Horse Entertainment will release “Hellboy” on April 12, 2019.
