Paramount Pictures have released six new images from the upcoming “Terminator: Dark Fate.”
New images show off old and familiar faces as they gear up and prepare for what is still an unknown plot. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as the titular Terminator. Linda Hamilton, star of the first Terminator film, reprises her role as Sarah Conner. Joining are cast members Mackenzie Davis “Tully” “Blade Runner 2049”, Gabriel Luna, Diego Boneta and Natalie Reyes.
Tim Miller is directing with the a script written and worked on by David Ellison, Josh Friedman, David S. Goyer, Billy Ray and Justin Rhodes. Miller’s latest notable projects include directing 2016’s “Deadpool” and creating Netflix’s “Love, Death & Robots,” where David Fincher serves as executive producer. Also joining Miller for the Terminator film includes “Deadpool” composer Junkie XL.
James Cameron, the director behind box office phenomena like “Titanic” and “Avatar,” returns to produce the film. He directed the franchise’s first two installments, both receiving different box office outcomes. The 1984 original garnered an $89 million gross while its sequel outperformed to over $204 million. Of course, with the original film, a following grew with age. It has since been regarded a staple of the science fiction genre.
The franchise as a whole, though, has suffered a diluted box office arc with “Terminator: Genisys”‘s $89 million box office return in 2015. This is the franchise’s most recent outing and it’s lowest performing installment since Cameron’s own “Terminator 2: Salvation Day.” The likeliness of success for the upcoming film shows a genuine push back to form. Only time will tell as we await more plot information and the expected trailers to reel out.
