What’s on TV? – Wednesday (6/5/19) – Check Into the ‘El Royale’

There’s an opportunity to catch-up with an overlooked movie from last year tonight on HBO. Drew Goddard built some good faith with his directorial debut but his second film as a director didn’t bring audiences to the theater. It’s a shame because “Bad Times at the El Royale” is a thrillingly original movie and worth discovering in the comfort of your home.

Pick of the Week:

“Bad Times at the El Royale” on HBO at 10:00 p.m.

Last year’s “Bad Times at the El Royale” didn’t ignite any kind of audience passion at the box office. The movie only made $17 million domestically and $31 million worldwide. Director Drew Goddard’s follow-up to his acclaimed “Cabin in the Woods” is a fun and mysterious noir with a sprawling ensemble cast, which includes: Chris Hemsworth, Dakota Johnson, Jeff Bridges, Jon Hamm, Nick Offerman and a scene-stealing Cynthia Erivo. As the movie unfolds, audiences learn what has brought the characters to the hotel and the movie is successful in keeping everyone guessing each step of the way.
