What’s On TV? – Tuesday (06/11/19) – Strike a ‘Pose’

The FX series “Pose,” which became an instant sensation, returns for its second season and just in time for Pride Month. Meanwhile, for anyone trying to get their film fix, there are a slew of options. Viewers can swim to the oceans with “Finding Dory” or take a trip to the Wild West. Here’s a closer look at what’s on TV tonight.

“Pose” (FX) at 10:00 PM EDT

The House of Evangelista shall open its doors for the next season of “Pose.” This drama series, created by TV mogul Ryan Murphy, began season one in the late 80s with season two picking up in 1990. According to IMDb, it “looks at the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the rise of the luxury universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ballroom world.” Along with its quality, it has been praised for giving queer actors of color a visible platform. Now, fans of the acclaimed series can get back on the dance floor.

For those looking for some adventure, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” will air on TCM at 8:00 PM EDT. Set in 1900s Wyoming, this film follows the titular outlaws (Paul Newman and Robert Redford) who go on the run after a train robbery goes awry. Along the way, the Sundance Kid (Redford) falls for a woman (Katharine Ross) who joins in their escapades. With a posse hot on their tail, both men decide that escaping to Bolivia is the best option. This acclaimed classic offers a delicate mix of humor, adventure, and romance. In addition, it won four Academy Awards including Best Original Screenplay for William Goldman.

In case that film isn’t enough of a venture, “Finding Dory” will be on Freeform at 9:00 PM EDT. The story follows the forgetful Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) as she goes on a quest across the ocean to find her long-lost parents with Marlin (Albert Brooks) and his son Nemo (Hayden Rolence) accompanying her on her journey. It’s a treat for the whole family and should satisfy Pixar fans before the highly anticipated release of “Toy Story 4” next week.
