WATCH: Hard Times Ensue in First Trailer for Ken Loach’s Family Drama ‘Sorry We Missed You’

Entertainment One UK have released the first trailer for “Sorry We Missed You,” directed by Ken Loach. The drama world premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and has been received in favor of the director’s striking passion for the script. Loach’s film continues to make its way across seas as the trailer drops in the midst of its premiering week at both Shanghai International Film Festival and Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, Milan.

Official film synopsis:

Ricky and his family have been fighting an uphill struggle against debt since the 2008 financial crash. An opportunity to wrestle back some independence appears with a shiny new van and the chance to run a franchise as a self employed delivery driver. It’s hard work, and his wife’s job as a career is no easier. The family unit is strong but when both are pulled in different directions everything comes to breaking point.

“Sorry We Missed You”

Loach has directed past works such as the BAFTA award-winning “I, Daniel Blake,” “The Wind that Shakes the Barley,” “Sweet Sixteen” and “Kes.” With his new film, the director delivers another piece of work in the confines of a family drama, one that sees the tides of hardship overwhelm, test and shape its characters on screen. Loach boarded Paul Laverty for the script. Laverty joined the filmmaker with “I, Daniel Blake,” and was nominated at the BAFTAs for his original screenplay that year. The film stars Kris Hitchen, Debbie Honeywood, Rhys Stone and Katie Proctor.

“Sorry We Missed You” is produced by Sixteen Films and BBC Films. It will be released in UK cinemas November 1, with a US distributor and date to be determined.
