What’s On TV? – Friday (07/26/19) – ‘Orange is the New Black’ Returns for its Final Season

Tonight’s highlights include a brand new superhero show from Amazon Prime and two of Quentin Tarantino‘s best films. Alongside those choices is the pick of the day, which is the finale season of one of Netflix’s best original series.

Pick of the Day:
“Orange is the New Black” (Netflix)

Returning for the finale season on Netflix, “Orange is the New Black” is going out with a bang. At the end of season 6, Piper was given an early release and was able to leave prison. In season 7, fans will explore what happens to Piper and her life outside of Litchfield while still examining the lives of the other women still in prison. Seen as one of the crowning jewels for Netflix original series, “Orange is the New Black” leaves behind a legacy as one of the best shows of the last decade and plans to wrap everything up beautifully with its final episodes.

Superheroes with a dark twist, that is what Amazon is betting on with it’s new show “The Boys.” Based on the graphic novel of the same name, the series follows a group of vigilantes that team up together to take on the corrupt, dangerous superheroes that are saving the world. These heroes are fare more sinister than the ones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and The Boys set out to expose them for the frauds that they are. The show is an ultra violent, darkly comedic take on the superhero genre that will play best with adults rather than the whole family.

Movies on TV:
“Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2” (Paramount) at 8:00/10:30 PM ETImage result for kill bill

If you can’t grab a ticket to his new film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” then you can stay home and watch Tarantino’s action-revenge double feature, “Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.” The films follow Uma Thurman as The Bride, a highly trained assassin that is betrayed and left for dead by the assassins she works with and their leader, Bill at her wedding. As she faces off against all who did her wrong, The Bride seeks her revenge and surprises ensue. Thurman gives the best performance of her career and Tarantino’s screenplay lead to the best story he has ever written on page. Some say these movies are one long film, while others say they are two entirely different entries within the same story. You will have to judge for yourself.
